The Art Residency at Bakawali art and crafts center in Malaysia, Besut, October 2015

An art residency at one of the best wood carving centers in Malaysia, run by Norhaiza Noordin, a Malay Master woodcarver with vast knowledge in the field. Two weeks during which I had the chance to watch and learn so much about traditional wood carving, techniques and wood species.

I stayed in one of the traditional wood houses and had access to workshop space and tools, I carved two pieces of red Malaysian mahogany.
